Paul Rice, pictured here addressing members of the Volusia County Bar Association at its annual Family Law Seminar, spoke about the legal nuances of parenting plans and child timesharing schedules in Florida. The seminar was held at the Halifax River Yacht Club on Friday, August 29, 2014, and was attended by approximately 35 lawyers.

Paul Rice conducted the City of Daytona Beach’s Nuisance Abatement Board meeting on August 8, 2014 wherein the City brought allegations against the Circus Bar for repeated drug and other unlawful activities.

Florida law favors shared parental responsibility after a divorce with minor children. Judges frown on parents who try to alienate one parent from another. Florida Statute §61.13 acknowledges that the parent who tries to facilitate a relationship with the other acts in the best interest of the child.

Karen Foxman, pictured here, previously a partner with the Rice & Rose Law Firm for 7 ½ years, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit which covers Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam Counties. While with the Rice & Rose Law Firm, Ms. Foxman was president of the Volusia County Bar Association and the Volusia/Flagler Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Foxman practiced in the areas of divorce and family law and criminal law during her years with Rice & Rose.

I read with interest an article discussing the Iowa Supreme Court recently upholding as valid and enforceable in that sate a couple’s post-nuptial agreement that was entered into and signed by the parties in the State of Florida over 20 years ago.
