The Volusia County Bar Association's Family Law Section, chaired by Rice & Rose partner, Paul Rice, welcomed newly appointed Circuit Court Judge David B. Beck to the family law division at its meeting on September 20, 2011. Approximately 50 family law lawyers as well as various family law court personnel were in attendance to welcome the new judge.
Paul Rice, seen here with Teresa Rogers, CEO and President of the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, was recently appointed to a three year term on the Y's Corporate Board of Directors. The organization oversees YMCA facilities in the Counties of Volusia and Flagler including Port Orange, Deland, Deltona, Ormond Beach, Edgewater, Holly Hill, Flagler as well as Camp Winona in DeLeon Springs, Florida.
A native of Ormond Beach, Florida, Mr. Shapiro graduated from Seabreeze High School.  Mr. Shapiro received his Juris Doctor degree from Florida International University where he graduated with honors and finished ranked in the top ten in his class. 
The Parrotheads, sponsored by Rice & Rose, participated in the charity co-ed softball tournament for the Pace Center for Girls on September 11, 2011. Rice & Rose's team went undefeated and took home the first place trophy.
Rice & Rose Law Firm partner Paul Rice presented a topic on Ethics and Professionalism for Family Law Practitioners to a group of over 50 lawyers on June 17, 2011.  In addition to being one of the four speakers, Rice, as chair of the Volusia County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, organized and moderated the annual seminar.
Rice & Rose Partner Philip Bonamo, who is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a Specialist in Criminal Law since 2001, attended the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Annual Meeting, which this year was held from June 9 through June 12, 2011 in Palm Beach at the Four Seasons Resort.
Jackie Roys has recently accepted a two year director’s position on the board for the Volusia/Flagler’s Association for Women Lawyers. As one of the directors, Ms. Roys will work diligently to promote the advancement of women in the legal profession. The Association, and Ms. Roys as a director, will work to expand the leadership role of women within the community. 
Prosecutor Jacquelyn Roys currently with the State Attorney"s office will be joining the Rice & Rose Law firm. She has served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 7th Judicial Circuit since 2002 and is presently the lead prosecutor in the William Gregory murder trial.
Lynn Parnell (on right) and Ashleigh Drexler (on left) attended the 2010 Fall Two Track Seminar on Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Bonita Springs, which was hosted by the Paralegal Association of Florida, Inc.
Jim Rose was the moderator of 2010 Daytona Regional Chamber Hob Nob held on October 19th at Daytona International Speedway.
