Should I start my divorce during the COVID crisis?

Our courts may be closed to foot traffic for the time being, but the health crisis has forced us to handle cases in new ways.   Normal divorce practice involves the use of electronic filing for pleadings and email exchange of documents between the parties and their attorneys.  Much of our client contact occurs over the telephone. We settle cases every day using mediation,  the collaborative process, or simply negotiations between the lawyers.  In fact, most issues in a divorce or modification are resolved without a trip of the courthouse.

Recent administrative orders at the state and local level mandate that hearings and other court appearances be held using Zoom technology.  Here at the Rice Law Firm, we are appearing in court by Zoom nearly every day.  We are equipped to hold in-person mediations with responsible distance between the parties or zoom mediations, your choice.

In short, if you have had enough and are ready to move forward, please contact me today to schedule a consultation to learn about the options for your divorce. I look forward to hearing from you. 386 257-1222
